Simple Homemade Croutons

Ingredients
  

  • 2 to 3 thick slices of day-old bread any kind: baguette, sourdough, country loaf
  • 2 to 3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 clove garlic optional, crushed or grated
  • pinch salt
  • Optional: herbs like thyme oregano,

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Cut bread into 1–2 cm cubes (rustic is good).
  • In a bowl, toss bread with olive oil, garlic, salt, and herbs/spices if using.
  • Spread on a baking tray in a single layer.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, turning once halfway through, until golden and crisp.
  • Cool fully before storing in an airtight container.
