Simple Homemade Croutons
Ingredients
- 2 to 3 thick slices of day-old bread any kind: baguette, sourdough, country loaf
- 2 to 3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
- 1 clove garlic optional, crushed or grated
- pinch salt
- Optional: herbs like thyme oregano,
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Cut bread into 1–2 cm cubes (rustic is good).
- In a bowl, toss bread with olive oil, garlic, salt, and herbs/spices if using.
- Spread on a baking tray in a single layer.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, turning once halfway through, until golden and crisp.
- Cool fully before storing in an airtight container.
